Manufactured in 1896 as part of the first contract run for the United States Navy, the Winchester-Lee was a very advanced weapon for the era, with a rapidly manipulatable cam-driven bolt and a high velocity small bore cartridge with a very flat trajectory. Blade front and ladder rear sights, with "-U.S.N.-/[anchor]/No 2842/-N.C.T.-" on the receiver ring and the two-line New Haven address/patent marks on the left side of the receiver. Smooth pistol grip stock with sling swivels and a smooth buttplate. The stock is marked "V/P.B/U.S.N./23" on the left side. Includes a Russian Model 1895 musket bayonet and sheath with leather hanger. There is a small removable collector type mark on the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 50% original blue finish remains with some light edge wear, cycling marks on the bolt body, handling marks overall, and areas of a mild brown patina. The reoiled stock is also fine with legible markings, and small dings throughout. Mechanically excellent.
