Pinned blade front and "C" marked Model 1896 carbine adjustable ladder rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards, and an unmarked notched single barrel band. Receiver marked "U.S./1895. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. 26773". Grasping groove stock with a saddle ring on the left side of the wrist, faint remnants of an inspection stamp, script "P" on the underside of the wrist, and a smooth trapdoor buttplate with cleaning rod. There is a small removable collection marking on the trigger guard.

Fine. 80% arsenal refurbished blue finish remains with some areas of muzzle and edge wear, scattered small scratches, and mottled patina on the bolt handle. The lightly sanded and re-oiled stock is very good with mostly faint markings, shallow finger grooves, scattered small dings, and oxidation on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
