Nocona Boot Co. purchased the rights and equipment from J.R. McChesney's spur company from his family in 1926 and continued manufacturing many of his spur styles. Unlike McChesney's work, which is normally seen unmarked, Nocona Boot Co. marked the spurs they manufactured with "McCHESNEY", which can be seen near the medial buttons. These spurs display much of the style John Wayne preferred in many of his movies, including swinging buttons, wide heal bands single mounted with lightly engraved silver, and short drop shanks with chap guards ending in five-point rowels.
