Manufactured during the early 20th Century and attributed to Texas craftsman, Tom Johnson Jr. who worked for two legendary spur makers in his life, J.R. McChesney and P.M. Kelly, before starting his own spur making business which continued the handmade tradition he preferred. This pair are unmarked, as is typical of Johnson's work. The upturned heel bands are single mounted with two lightly engraved nickel diamonds, gooseneck shanks ending in five-pointed star rowels, and floral pattern tooled leather straps. Fine, showing mostly smooth brown patina and bright nickel mountings with some mild oxidation. The leather straps are very good with some minor wear.
