The late Ken Hurst (d. 2018) was a master engraver for Colt and Winchester (one of two men to have that distinction post-WWII) and then established Ken Hurst Firearm Engraving Company where he continued to produce artistic arms like this beautiful pair with his team of talented engravers such as Master Engraver Lisa Tomlin. The revolvers were manufactured in 1903 (A) and 1906 (B) and subsequently embellished with nearly full coverage engraving. Even the sides of the front sights, flutes of the ejectors housings, face of the cylinders, cylinder flutes, and loading cut outs are engraved. The engraving mostly consists of elaborate scroll patterns with stippled backgrounds, but there are also intricate shell, burst, braid, and floral motifs. The barrels have gold bands at the muzzle and scalloped gold borders at the breech ends. The frames and grip straps have gold lined borders. The recoil shields have gold inlaid howling wolf heads, and the loading gates have golden paw prints. The revolver are both stamped "K HURST" ahead of the main serial numbers on the frames and have sets of recently professionally fitted grips from Eagle Grips with golden Colt medallions.
