Description:

This Colt Buntline Special Single Action Army revolver was manufactured in 1958 and is complete with the original factory black box with green interior. The box label reads: "COLT'S BUNTLINE SPECIAL/45 COLT/12 IN BBL/Walnut Stocks". The bottom of the box is correctly numbered to both the gun and barrel assembly: "19507/BB1244". The box is complete with the oiled paper wrapping, Warranty Card, Colt pamphlet HANDLING THE HANDGUN, Instruction sheet for SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER and fifteen-inch, wire, cleaning brush. The pistol has the distinctive 12-inch Buntline Special barrel, casehardened frame and oil-finished walnut grips. The top of the barrel is marked: "COLTS PT. F.A. MFG. Co.HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.". The left side of the barrel is marked: "COLT BUNTLINE SPECIAL .45". The left side of the frame has the two-line/three date patent markings followed by the Rampant Colt motif. The serial number is located on the bottom of the frame. Factory letter dated January 14, 1989, confirms the configuration and that it was shipped to Richard S. Boutelle, Fairchild Engine & Airplane Corp. Hagerstown, MD on February 28, 1958. This pistol was a gift to Gen. LeMay from the aforementioned president of the Fairchild Aircraft Corporation in the early 1960s. (Reportedly they both hunted together in Africa). The revolver is accompanied by two holsters and a cartridge belt. One holster is a black leather, hand tooled, buscadaro type with cartridge belt. The cartridge belt has twenty-eight, .45 caliber loops and a nickel-plated frame buckle. The belt and holster are decorated with carved, floral decorations. The other holster is a Mexican Loop pattern for the Buntline Special revolver. The holster is made of russet leather and decorated with carved floral patterns. Documents with the holsters indicate that they were personally made for General LeMay. The holsters and cartridge belt are extremely well-made and exhibit a high degree of craftsmanship.

Rating Definition:

Near new in box with some minor storage scratches at the muzzle and a very slight drag line on the cylinder. Three corners of the box lid are split, but the overall condition of the box is very good. The accessories are excellent. The holsters and cartridge belt have some storage wear but remain in excellent condition.
