These rifles were all manufactured in the mid to late 1930s and were the primary training rifle as used by the German Wehrmacht, Kreigsmarine, Luftwaffe and SS. This specific rifle has the "RFSS" 3/4 inch circular stock proof stamped on the left side below the takedown disc. This proof is associated with the Reichsfuhrer SS training school, and these rifles were intended to simulate the weight and feel of the standard 98K rifle. The top of the barrel is marked "Deutches Sportmodell" ahead of the breech with "crown/letter" proofs. The top of the receiver is dated "1935" over "Waffenstadt/Suhl" with matching serial numbers and proofs on the left side. With Model 98 style blade front and 200 meter adjustable rear tangent sights. One-piece, walnut pistol grip stock with a smooth steel buttplate.

Very fine. 80% original blue finish remains with scattered spotting on the barrel, mild edge wear, plum coloration on the bolt shroud, and a mottled gray/brown patina on the trigger guard and floorplate. The stock is fine with the forend duffle cut (loose), numerous small dings throughout, some deeper dents, crisp inspection cartouche, and a rough brown patina on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. A fine example of a rare pre-war SS training rifle.
