Description:

Manufactured by German/Polish immigrant Rudolph Pelck (1827-1885) of Freeport, Illinois, around the 1850s-1880s. It has sun patterns on the muzzle, a dovetailed blade front sight with wide base and reference lines, adjustable sporting notch rear sight, "R. PELCK/FREEPORT, ILLS" on top of the barrel, hole in the barrel tang for mounting a peep sight, "Josh Golcher" lock with light scroll and bird patterns, adjustable double set triggers, pewter forend cap, brass furniture, and smooth stock without cheek rest.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with mostly dark brown patina on the barrel, gray and brown patina on the lock, aged patinas on the brass and pewter, some mild pitting, minor dings and scratches, crack to the left of the upper tang, minor flake at the butt, and mostly smooth oiled finish. Mechanically fine.
