Introduced alongside the Model 1888 rifle, for issue to non-infantry troops. The top of the receiver ring is marked "C.G. HAENEL/SUHL/1892.", the right side is marked with "three crown over Gothic letter" proofs, and the left side is marked with the serial number. The matching serial number is marked on the left rear of the barrel, and the left side receiver wall is marked "B.2.T.B.2.73." followed by "Kar. 88". Shrouded blade front sight and folding leaf rear sight graduated to 120 meters. The right side of the barrel band is marked "B.2.T.B 73." which has been struck out. Mounted with a smooth full length straight grip stock with a sling slot and flat metal buttplate. The bore measures approximately 7.65mm in lieu of the typical 7.9mm.

Very good. The barrel retains 60% thinning original finish with areas of smooth brown patina. The barrel bands are a mix of original blue finish and smooth gray and brown patina. The receiver has a smooth mottled gray patina. All visible numbers match. The stock has been freshened with a coat of varnish and remains very good with some scattered minor dings and dents. The action is excellent. A nice matching, unit marked carbine.
