Description:

This c. 1860s-1880s rifle marked by gunsmith and hardware retailer Herman Schlegelmich (1830-1903) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has a German silver blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, "H. SCHLEGELMICH [stamped] Eau Claire. Wis [inscribed in script]" on the top of the barrel, bird hunting scene and scroll pattern back action lock, adjustable double set triggers, pewter forend cap, brass furniture, checkered wrist, and small cheek rest.

Rating Definition:

Good with mottled gray and brown patina along with mild oxidation/pitting on the lock and barrel, aged patina on the furniture, mostly crisp markings and designs, a few dings in the otherwise good coarse checkering, minor tension crack at the lock screw, sliver absent by the upper tang, a few other dents and scrapes, and generally mild wear. Mechanically fine.
