Description:

Manufactured circa mid 19th Century by William Farver (1818-1863), buried in Millerstown, Pennsylvania, but at various times also a resident of Iowa and Indiana. "W. FARVER" is stamped over the "WARRANTED" marking on the lightly scroll engraved back action lock and in a parallelogram panel behind the notch rear sight on the barrel. The rifled barrel also has 75% coverage scroll engraving and a German silver front sight blade. The furniture is plain German silver. A small cap compartment is on the butt, and it has an adjustable single set trigger.

Rating Definition:

Good with distinct markings and engraving, dark gray and brown patina, mild pitting, and light oxidation on the lock and barrel; aged patina on the furniture, and moderate wear. The refinished stock has cracks at the barrel keys and between the lock and upper tang as well as some general dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
