Description:

This is an excellent example of a late production WWII U.S. Army contract Stevens Model 520-30 trench shotgun with the correct bayonet lug adaptor and ventilated handguard. The right side of the barrel has the Stevens Company three-line address along with a small "P/Ordnance bomb" proof while the left side has the two-line markings of: "PROOF TESTED-12 GAUGE/-2 3/4 INCH CHAMBER-", with no barrel/bore choke markings. The left front edge of the receiver is stamped with a small "P/Ordnance bomb" proof followed by "MOD. 520-30", and towards the rear it is stamped "U.S.". It is correctly serial numbered "60623" on the rear end of the trigger guard tang. It has a matte blued finish on the receiver, barrel, magazine tube, pump handle, while the heat shield has a high polish blue finish, with the correct pinkish tint on the bayonet lug due to its alloy metal construction. It is fitted with a smooth walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a black plastic buttplate. The stock and bayonet lug are correctly fitted with sling swivels.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% plus of its original wartime finish overall, with edge and high spot wear, and the majority of the blue finish loss on the magazine tube due to the cycling of the action over the years. The stock and pump handle are both in very fine condition with a nice matching medium brown color showing only minor handling marks in a couple areas. The buttplate has been slightly modified to fit the buttstock and has lost its black color somewhat.
