Description:

Manufactured after World War II, this rifle bears an "X" serial number prefix, denoting an accidentally duplicated serial number. Many "X" rifles were produced at the tail end of M1 Garand production, essentially a "clean-up" phase before fully transitioning to making the M14 rifle. "NM/062" front sight and "NM" rear sight with rotating eye cup and half-minute adjustments. The barrel is marked "NM AFP2" on the left side and "SA 7791035 4 63 Y22" on the right, along with a "P" stamp. Other components include a "SA" bolt, trigger housing, "WRA" safety, "HR-N" hammer, and a "NM" gas cylinder and operating rod. The highly figured presentation quality stock is unmarked, with heavy glass bedding and a checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as upgraded to National match spec, with 90% of the parkerization, with bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The top of the bolt, areas of the op rod channel, and the right side of the receiver around the windage knob have been polished bright. The highly figured varnished stock is fine, with a number of dings and scratches overall and some hairline cracks in the forearm. Mechanically excellent.
