Description:

This is one of only 1,000 Model 1902 revolvers the U.S. Navy purchased from S&W. These scarce U.S. handguns fall within the 25001-26000 serial number range. The back strap is stamped "43" and "44". The butt is stamped "U.S.N./[anchor]/38 DA/[arrow through "S"]/No/1777/J.A.B." Matching serial numbers are found on the front strap, cylinder and barrel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina. Some original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also fine with minor handling marks and some blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
