Description:

Originally manufactured in January of 1945, this is one of a limited number of M1C Sniper Rifles manufactured for World War II. Many of these rifles were refurbished or assembled for service in the Korean War. Blade front and adjustable peep rear sights, with "DRC" windage and "LUX" elevation knobs. The barrel is marked "S-A-2-51", with a Springfield bolt, trigger guard, trigger housing, hammer, and relief cut operating rod. The scope rail is mounted through the left side of the receiver in the traditional 3-screw, 2-pin arrangement, with a matching serial number stamped on the underside, and the scope base is Griffin & Howe marked on top with a matching number on the right side. The M82 scope is fitted with a sliding metal sun shield and a rubber eye piece, with the three line model and stock markings on the left side and a "crown/FKF" mark on top of the tube. "FKF" (Forsvarets Krigsmaterial Forvaltning, Defense War Materiel Administration) markings are found on a number of Danish M1 Garand accessories, from the Garand's time as Denmark's M/50 rifle, which included at least some use of the sniper variants. The stock is lightly glass bedded, with a "DoD Eagle" cartouche on the left side and a checkered steel buttplate. Included with the rifle is a "P in diamond" marked M2 flash hider, "MRT/11-58" leather cheekpiece (properly installed with brass screws driven into the wood), a green canvas sling and a "MRT" marked green canvas scope case.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, with 90% plus, showing 95% of the parkerized finish, with some light cycling and edge wear, along with some light handling marks. Aside from some dents in the grip and some fading of the DoD stamp, the sanded, refinished stock is fine, with minor handling marks and good grain. The cheekpiece shows some stains and verdigris, with mild wear on the scope case. Optics are crisp and clear, with minimal wear on the tube and some dings on the mount. Mechanically excellent.
