These were the standard commercial Winchester Model 1200 shotguns produced during the late 1960s and mid early 1970s that were purchased/adapted for the military by adding a bayonet lug/heat shield to the barrel and U.S. markings on the receiver. Most were destroyed after they were replaced by the Mossberg 500 series shotguns in the mid 1980s. The barrel is equipped with a six hole pattern heat shield with the bayonet lug attachment on the front end that is secured to the barrel with three screws. The bayonet lug on this shotgun is sized for the 1917 model bayonet and marked "11686389/MFR-1A424" on the left side. The barrel is marked for cylinder choke and a 2 3/4 inch chamber, with "U.S." above the standard markings, and the alloy frame is marked "U.S." on the underside. Fitted with an extended forearm and pistol grip stock, both with impressed checkering, the latter with a green canvas sling, 14 inch length of pull, and a Winchester-branded white line recoil pad.

Very good, with 60% anodized finish, showing mild wear concentrated on the edges and light handling marks and scratches overall. The barrel retains 75% arsenal refurbished parkerized finish. The sanded, refinished stock has taken a hit on the wrist, resulting in a large loose but still present chip and some play and bending in the grip cap; otherwise, the wood is good with a slightly oversized recoil pad and mild dent and scuffs overall. The breech automatically unlocks on discharge, otherwise mechanically functions fine.
