Description:

This Model 1917 rifle has the parkerized finish used on very late production Eddystone rifles. The left side of the stock is fitted with a rectangular brass plate engraved: "MODIFIED LEE ENFIELD RIFLE/ADOPTED BY THE UNITED STATES GOVERN-/MENT FOR USE IN THE WORLD'S WAR/STOCK AND FITTINGS/MADE BY/VICTOR TALKING MACHINE CO./CAMDEN N.J. U.S.A./1918". The rifle was apparently used for display at the Victor company. Aside from the plaque on the stock, the rifle is an un-issued, late production Eddystone Model 1917. The receiver has a rough, gray parkerized finish. The barrel and other components have a smooth, gray-black parkerized finish. The receiver is marked: "U.S./MODEL OF 1917/EDDYSTONE/13549667". The barrel is marked: "E/Ordnance Flame and Shell/12-18". The left receiver rail has the Ordnance Flame and Shell on the side and eaglehead ordnance inspection stamps on the top. The tip of the forearm, the bolt and other components are marked with the Eddystone "E". The walnut stock has a semi-gloss oil finish.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% of the original parkerized finish. Wear is limited to some minor turn marks on the bolt body and some very minor finish loss on the heel of the butt plate. The period presentation grade stock is in very fine condition with very minor storage wear. Mechanically excellent.
