Description:

These 1917 rifles were the primary service rifle used by the American Expeditionary Forces throughout WWI and many saw service during the early days of WWII, making original unaltered examples very scarce. Barrel marked "W/flaming bomb/3-18" with fixed blade front and adjustable ladder and peep rear sights, standard receiver markings, and "eagle head" and "flaming bomb" proofs on the left receiver rail. With a "flaming bomb" stamped "NS" marked nickel steel bolt. Eddystone manufactured pistol grip stock with an "E" stamped at the nose, and flat steel buttplate with trapdoor. With "1917" dated Winchester bayonet with leather sheath.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 90% plus original blue finish remains on the barrel and receiver with some light edge and muzzle wear, and scattered surface scratches. The trigger guard assembly and bolt are professionally restored. The replacement Eddystone stock is very good with some small chips at the upper receiver tang, some small scattered dings, and freshened oil finish. Mechanically excellent.
