Description:

The lock is inscribed "KETLAND/& Co" and has light border and floral engraving. The multi-stage barrel flares out to just under 1 1/4 inches at the muzzle (gauge estimated above) and has a pre-1813 Birmingham proof and view marks and light border engraving at the breech. Light border and floral engraving is found throughout the brass furniture. The scrollwork on the buttplate is particularly attractive. The trigger guard has an acorn finial, and the side plate is an ornate pierced pattern. The stock has raised shell carving at the upper tang.

Rating Definition:

Very good with aged patina on the brass, deep brown and gray patina and mild pitting on the lock, some cracks and repairs on the left side of the forend, general dings and scratches, and generally crisp engraving and carving. Top hammer jaw is a replacement. Mechanically fine.
