This Model 1911A1 semi-automatic Pistol was manufactured by the Union Switch & Signal Co., of Swissvale, Pennsylvania, in 1943. The pistol has a duo-lite finish and is fitted with checkered brown plastic grips. The pistol has a narrow hammer with checkered spur, checkered main spring housing and safety lock, serrated slide stop and stamped trigger. The Keyes Fibre plastic grips have interior strengthening ribs but do not have reinforcing rings around the screw holes. The High Standard barrel is stamped "HS" on the right side of the lug and "P" on the left. The slide is, correctly, not stamped with the pistol serial number. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No1066021" in two lines behind the slide stop hole and "M 1911 A1 U.S.ARMY" in front of it. A "P" proofmark is stamped on the left side of the frame below and behind the magazine release. The Ordnance final inspection mark with the initials "R.C.D." surrounded by a circle is stamped below the slide stop cut-out. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the "USS" logo followed by the two-line legend "U.S. & S. CO./SWISSVALE, PA. U.S.A.". A "P" proofmark is stamped on the upper left side of the slide between the ejection port and the rear sight. The "P" faces the ejection port.

Very fine. The pistol retains 85% of the original duo-lite finish with light holster wear on the leading edges of the slide and frame and some thinning on the contact points of the grip strap and mainspring housing. The barrel has 30% of the original blue finish with cycling wear on the top of the chamber. The grips are in excellent condition. All of the markings are crisp. This is a very fine example of a Model 1911A1 Pistol manufactured by the Union Switch & Signal Co.
