According to the included factory letter, this pistol was part of a 109-piece shipment to the Springfield Armory on January 25, 1942. A variant of the Ace pistol, the Service Model was marketed as an ideal training counterpart to the 1911A1/Government Model pistol, using a floating chamber assembly to boost the recoil to approximate the felt impulse of the 45 ACP round. Serrated blade front and adjustable square notch rear sights, with a boxed "W.B." inspector stamp on the left side of the frame in addition to the standard markings. Fitted with a set of checkered grips and a two-tone Service Model magazine. An instruction sheet is included, along with information on Brigadier General Gilbert Stewart, Commandant at Springfield during the time of delivers.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 98% of the professionally restored blue finish, showing some light edge wear and minor handling marks. A few light dings are present on the grips. Mechanically excellent.
