Description:

Manufactured in 1913, the second year of production. The end result of about a decade of feedback from the United States military to arms legend John M. Browning, the Government Model defined the automatic pistol for most of the 20th century and stands to this day as a go-to sidearm for those looking for a little more firepower in their firearm. Fixed sights, with the two-line, two-block address and patent markings on the left side of the slide with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, and "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" ahead of the ejection port. Marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" ahead of the serial number on the right side of the frame, with the "VP" Verified Proof and "2" inspection mark on the left side of the trigger guard. Outfitted with a round top rear sight, wide knurled hammer, long trigger, short grip safety, and smooth flat mainspring housing. The replacement barrel is "J" inspected on left link ear. Checkered grips with diamond panels around the screws, which have been stamped "JAM" on the left panels and "M" on the right panels, and the magazine is stamped "B" on the toe. Magazine is a military two tone replacement. The origin of the grip markings are unknown, but the most likely scenario is a prior owner adding their initials.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 60% plus of the original high polish blue finish, showing a few areas of brown patina on the slide and grip straps, scattered spotting of varying depth and intensity, takedown lines on the slide and scattered handling marks. The grips are very good, with some dings and wear. Mechanically excellent.
