The barrel has seven-groove rifling, a blade front sight, notch rear sight with ornate engraved finial, "ANT. KAUFMANN IN KELLHEIM" inlaid in silver on top, and silver bands at the breech. The barrel is secured by two wedges and the screw of the sling swivel which pass through German silver plates. An adjustable peep sight is fitted in a base on the upper tang. The rifle is also equipped with adjustable double set triggers. The lock and furniture are casehardened and primarily engraved with scrollwork accented by some game and floral designs and highlighted with some light silver. The side plate has a double eagle design. The trigger guard is spurred and has a carved wooden extension. "1" is marked on a small German silver plate on the rear of the left stock flat, and a plate is absent from the bottom of the forend. The stock has a horn cap, scroll carving bordering the checkering and upper tang, a large cheekpiece, detailed scroll and stag scene carving on the left side of the butt, and a coordinating carved and checkered wooden patch box lid on the right.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine with 85% plus original brown finish on the barrel, 50% plus original case colors, mostly smooth gray patina on the balance, crisp engraving, aged patina on the German silver, crisp checkering and carving, attractive figure in the butt, cracks in the heel and trigger guard extension, minor scratches and dings, and minor overall wear. Mechanically excellent.
