The barrels have gold accents near the muzzles, gold scrollwork around the post front sight, "Por Pedro Bergara en Eibar 1851" on the rib in the breech section in gold surrounded by inhabited floral scroll and border designs, and "J.A" on the bottom of the rib. The locks, breech plugs, and furniture have deep relief engraved inhabited scrollwork with gold highlights in the stippled backgrounds and various creatures and figures. It has double triggers and an interesting grip safety on the lower tang. "PO. BEA." is marked on silver plates on the wrist and bottom of the butt ahead of the rear sling swivel. The stock also has a smooth forend, silver "X" accented and wire bordered checkering on the wrist, and silver inlaid inhabited scrolls throughout with a mix of grotesque masks, birds, a dragonfly, and floral accents.

Rating Definition:

Fine with nearly all of the bright gold on the barrels, smooth brown patina on most of the other surfaces of the barrels, strong original gold in the backgrounds on the furniture which otherwise has dark gray/brown patina, crisp engraving throughout, light aged patina on the stock inlays, some minor chips and slivers absent, crisp checkering, and general minor wear appropriate for its age. Mechanically fine.
