Description:

This is a beautiful example of a desirable a post WWII, Mosin-Nagant style sniper rifle that was produced by the Hungarian state-run factory. These rifles are a direct copy of the WWII Russian version of the 1891/30 Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle, except they show much better machining with excellent fit and finish. The top of the rear section of the barrel is marked with "02", the manufacturer's code for the Hungarian factory, over "1953", the year of manufacture, and the serial number. The scope is mounted in the traditional Russian style side mount that only has a single "02" manufacturers code and is fitted with a "PU" style sniper scope. The top of the scope tube is marked with "41/1953/525059" and "4383" and the scope has the correct style elevation knobs graduated from 100-1300 meters. The rifle is fitted with the typical Hungarian blonde/yellowish colored hardwood stock and hand guard which is also correctly marked with the single "02" manufacturer's code on the lower right side of the butt stock. The barrel is fitted with the standard military style front and rear sights, and this rifle is complete with an original canvas sling and a small accessory pouch that contains the canvas scope cover, metal oiler with a canvas pouch that contains a small wrench, jag and two small cleaning tools. This sniper is consecutively numbered to the previous lot.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus, as issued with 99% of the dark blue/black factory finish overall with just edge and high spot wear. The bolt is correctly still in the white factory polish. The scope base, mount and scope all retain 98% of their original finish, and the scope has clear sharp optics. The stock and hand guard are in excellent condition showing minor marks in a couple of places with clear sharp proofs and cartouches. The various accessories are also all in excellent condition. This rifle itself has all matching numbers except the scope.
