This is a like new 1938 dated Mauser Banner commercial contract Luger pistol chambered in the scarce 7.65 mm Luger Auto cartridge. The serial number range for these commercial contract Lugers falls in 5001v-5201v with an estimated total production of only approximately 175 that were sold to numerous countries, including the Dutch Netherlands, Latvia, Estonia, Portugal and even a small quantity to the Electric Company of Israel. The chamber is dated "1938", and it has the standard Mauser Banner trademark on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension, the underside of the barrel, and the left side of the breechblock are marked with a single "crown/U" commercial acceptance proofmark. There are no other proofmarks on the pistol. It is in a very early commercial serial number range in the "V" block. The full serial number stamped on the front of the frame with "5130" stamped on the left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel. The partial serial number "30" is stamped on various small parts. It is fitted with checkered walnut grips and has a blue unmarked magazine with an aluminum base that is marked "5130/v". This scarce early commercial Luger has the late type hot salt blue finish.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The pistol retains 98% plus of the original blue finish showing only minor edge and high spot wear. The various small parts retain 97% of the straw color. The grips are excellent plus with only a few light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. A very scarce and seldom encountered Mauser Banner commercial contract Luger.
