Description:

Manufactured circa 1941-1942, this early German semi-automatic uses the "Bang" pattern gas trap seen on several of their first attempts at a semi-automatic infantry rifle, with a non-reciprocating charging handle patterned after a then-conventional rifle bolt. To ready the weapon, one cycled this charging handle like a conventional Mauser bolt, and then fired in semi-automatic, gas operated mode. In the event of gas system failure, the G41(M) effectively reverts to a bolt-action rifle. Hooded blade front and tangent rear sight, distinctive gas trap at the muzzle, "G.41(M)/1942" on the receiver ring, and two position safety switch on the hinged dust cover. Smooth stock with milled barrel bands, brown leather sling and cupped buttplate. Matching numbers are present on the gas hardware, bolt, bolt carrier, charging handle, receiver cover, magazine, trigger guard and stock.

Rating Definition:

Fine as restored, with 70% of the combination original/refinished blue, showing some areas of brown patina, mild spotting, a few rough spots and scattered handling marks. Some of the serial numbers have been restruck. The modern replacement stock is very good, with a section of filer material present at the toe, along with some mild dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
