Description:

Manufactured during WWI for the Imperial German Navy, with the distinctive 6 inch barrel and 2-position notch rear sight. Dated "1917" on the front sight base, left receiver rail, and on top of the chamber, with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle link, "crown" firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock; and the "crown/M" Navy proof twice on the extension and once on the barrel. A faint overstrike has been applied to the frame date, possibly "GERMANY", which would indicate post-WWI export to the United States. "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" marked upper safety area and extractor, with straw finished small parts, niter blue pins and springs, checkered grips, and a nickel-finished magazine with hardwood base. The magazine base is decorated with concentric circles on the sides, with "crown/M" and "1226" on the underside.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% plus of the original blue finish, showing some bright edge wear and handling marks. 80% original straw color is present on the small parts, with a bit of fading, and the grips are also excellent with some dings. Mechanically excellent.
