This is a very good example of a P .08 Luger that was manufactured in 1936 by Krieghoff for the Luftwaffe. In 1936 it is estimated that only approximately 2,900 pistols were manufactured for the Luftwaffe with the full "1936" year chamber markings. Herman Goring had great ties to the Krieghoff factory and ensured that they were the only firm to receive actual Luftwaffe pistol contracts throughout WWII. Their pistols and drilling shotguns were highly prized for their beautiful fit and finish. As noted, the top of the barrel extension is stamped with the full "1936" date, with the front toggle marked with the C-1, 1936 pattern "H anchor K/KRIEGHOFF/SUHL", where the "Krieghoff" name runs from the full left side to the right side of the top of the toggle. The left side of the barrel extension has the serial number on the frame and the right side has the Krieghoff "eagle/2," "eagle" firing proof and "eagle/2" proof. The right side of the barrel also has the same "eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel is stamped with the bore diameter, the "eagle/2" acceptance proof, over the correct smaller sized serial number "5051". It has the military style numbering with correct matching numbers on the various parts, except the take down lever. It is fitted with the correct WWII Krieghoff checkered brown plastic grips with the smooth borders. Magazine absent.

Fine with 80% plus of the original blue finish with blue loss visible on the side plate hump, front edges of the muzzle and frame rails and the lower areas of the grip straps. There is also a small spot of light corrosion on the lower part, edge of the side plate hump and right front frame rail. The small parts retain 40% of their straw colors with the replacement takedown lever (Number 09) having a patch of pitting visible. (The hold open is also a mismatched number replacement). The grips are in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with only a couple minor handling marks. A very nice looking 1936 dated Krieghoff luger pistol.
