Description:

Manufactured in 1956, this revolver was produced on government contract for the U.S. Air Force, who designated it the Lightweight M13 Aircrewmen. The M13 revolvers were intended for use by flight crews as survival weapons. The model was rejected in the 50s because of problems with the alloy cylinder, and most were destroyed by the government. The top strap is marked "REVOLVER, LIGHTWEIGHT, M13," the left side of the frame has a "P" inspector's stamp and the back strap is stamped "U.S." Grips have silver S&W medallions, and the trigger guard has a collector's inventory number. Matching serial numbers are on the butt and right grip panel. The included holster is black leather construction, with "USAF" on the flap and a black leather shoulder strap.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue/anodized finish showing some scattered high edge wear and a heavy cylinder drag line. Most of the original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are very fine with wear along the tops of the checkering and small repaired chip near the top on the right panel. The holster is very good, with verdigris buildup concentrated on the strap, mild scuffing and cracking, and traces of saddle soap. Mechanically excellent.
