Manufactured from 1955 to 1964 with a heavy barrel and equipped with a Redfield Olympic Model globe front sight and receiver mounted Redfield International Match peep sight. The left side of the receiver ring is marked "U.S./22 LONG RIFLE" over the serial number and the left receiver wall is marked "Remington/MODEL 40-X". The right rear side of the barrel is marked with the typical Remington barrel proofs. The barrel is fitted with a scope block 6 inches forward of the breech and the front and rear receiver rings are also drilled and tapped with filler screws in the front and a scope base mounted on the rear. Adjustable serrated trigger and mounted with the standard heavy pistol grip walnut target-style stock with the accessory rail and hand stop, cut out at the front of the comb, sling swivels and a black rubber "WHITE LINE" marked buttplate. There is a small removable collector type marking on the trigger guard. Includes CMP certificate.

Excellent overall. 99% original blue finish remains with some small scattered nicks and scratches, and just a few small dings on the stock. Mechanically excellent.

Manufactured for the U.S. Army in the 1980s, and later released to the public via the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Globe front and fully adjustable Kimber rear peep sights, standard Oregon barrel markings, "U.S." stamped on the receiver above the serial number, heavy, walnut pistol grip stock with accessory rail under the forearm, and solid rubber recoil pad with three spacers. There is a small removable collector type marking on the trigger guard.
