Extremely Rare Fully Transferable Original Argentinian FMAP FAL Fully Automatic Class III/NFA Assault Rifle with Matching Serialized Bayonet, Case and Notarized History

This is an extremely rare example of an early Fabrique Nationale designed FN/FAL assault rifle that was manufactured by the Argentinian State Manufacturing factory in the mid-1960s. This is the classic and ever popular FN/FAL rifle that has been called the "Right Arm of the Free World" as it has been sold to more countries than any other assault rifle. The U.S. Government even tested these as the T48 model rifle in the late 1950s; however, the U.S. Government instead selected the Springfield Armory designed and manufactured M14 rifle over the T48 rifle. The Argentinian factory was established under License from FN and produced both rifles and pistol for over 35 years. These were a direct copy of the original FN/FAL design, even using all metric dimensions and tolerancing. This example is marked on the right side with "D.G.R.M. FABRICA MILITAR DE ARMAS PORTATILES", which translated means, "Directorate General of Military Industries". Also the right side of the magazine well is stamped with the distinctive Argentinian Crest over "EJERCITO ARGENTINO", which translate to "Argentinian Army ". It has an all milled receiver that is marked on the left side "F.A.L. cal 7.62 37420". The right side of the trigger housing is also stamped with its matching number, "37420". It is fitted with a second pattern German "G1" type barrel assembly without any permanent flash hider, with the small bayonet lug on the underside of the barrel. The barrel has the adjustable gas regulator with the open eared gas block. It is fitted with the standard post adjustable front sight with the military style tangent rear sight 2-6 (200-600 meters). It has a beautiful walnut stock with the transitional gray hard plastic handguards and black plastic pistol grip. The barrel and complete bolt assembly are unnumbered or proofed, which is correct for this model. Original Argentinian contract "matching" serialized bayonet and scabbard is included. A notarized letter supplied by Gilmore S. Wheeler, Ph.D. holding member of the Company of Military Historians and son of General Earle Wheeler, verifies this rifle as General Wheeler's personal property and states this is the only Argentinian FMAP FAL fully automatic Class III/NFA assault rifle known to be in the U.S. Magazine absent. Comes with a test target numbered to the gun and presentation case. The case has a plaque on the exterior of the lid that reads, "TO GENERAL EARLE G. WHEELER/CHIEF OF STAFF, UNITED STATES ARMY/FROM/GRAL DE BRIGADA JUAN CARLOS ONGANIA/COMMANDER IN CHIEF, ARGENTINE REPUBLIC ARMY/FEBRUARY 1963," and the interior has a Fabrica Militar de Armas Portatiles label.

ConditionExcellent with 98% plus of the original black painted exterior finish showing light marks on the sides of the ejection port and on the right side where the selector switch is located, both are consistent with light use. The stock, handguards and pistol grip are all in excellent condition with only light handling marks. The markings are clear and distinct. The case is good with a crack on the lid, minor handling/storage marks and some staining on the lining. A very nice looking, rare Argentinian factory manufactured FN/FAL assault rifle. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
