The rifle shows standard markings and features of the commemorative series that was released to the public by Winchester in 1979. This example however, appears to be one of the final prototypes before public release as it bears the experimental serial number "EXP1523". The included FN America Certificate of Provenance identifies the Rifle by model and serial number, stating that it was previously a part of the Winchester Factory Collection where it was maintained by U.S. Repeating Arms.

Very fine, retains 99% plus original blue finish and 95% plus original gold which is beginning to show age darkening and there is some flaking on the receiver. The wood is very good with some flaking of the varnish on the forearm and crisp checkering. With factory storage grease throughout. Mechanically excellent.
