Winchester Model 50 shotguns were manufactured from 1954-1961 starting with serial number 1,000. This example appears to be a fairly late pre-production prototype testing the feasibility of adding 14 gauge as an option to Model 50 production. It bears the experimental serial number "EXP04B". The barrel is marked "IMP. CYL./EXP. 14 GAUGE" along with a Winchester oval proof. The receiver shows the experimental serial number "EXP04B" and an oval proof. The muzzle brake is marked "FULL". There is a cloth bag tied to the barrel marked "FROM/P.O. DRAWER 906/NEW HAVEN, CONN./U.S.A." with a label attached to the bag marked "(1) Modified Choke/(1) Skeet Choke" with "Tool for Chokes" crossed out (bag unopened but appears to contain two choke tubes). 14 inch length of pull. The included FN America Certificate of Provenance identifies the shotgun by model and serial number, stating that it was previously a part of the Winchester Factory Collection where it was maintained by U.S. Repeating Arms.

Excellent, retains 99% plus original blue finish with only the slightest handling marks and factory storage grease. The wood is very fine with a few scattered minor handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
