The Model 1862 Police was in many was the pinnacle of Colt's percussion revolvers. It combined high quality steel, more refined finishing touches such as the flutes in the cylinder, and compact firepower. This relatively early example was manufactured in 1863 and has standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers aside from the wedge.

Exceptionally fine overall with 90% bright original high polish blue finish on the barrel, 70% original blue on the cylinder, some mild flaking on each with light gray and brown patina, 85% plus vivid original case colors, 85% original silver plating taking on dark aged patina on the trigger guard and lighter patina on the back strap, nearly all of the original glossy varnish on the excellent grip, minor dings and scratches, mild edge wear, crisp markings, and solid safety pins. Mechanically excellent.
