The Model 1862 Police was in many was the pinnacle of Colt's percussion revolvers. It combined high quality steel, more refined finishing touches such as the flutes in the cylinder, and compact firepower. This relatively early example was manufactured in 1864 and has standard markings and features, including all matching serial numbers.

Exceptionally fine with 80% original blue finish and 90% case colors, 20% original silver plating, attractively aged patina on the exposed brass, smooth gray and brown patina on the steel where the finish has flaked, and mild overall wear. The excellent grip has nearly all of the original varnish, some light edge wear, and minor handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
