Description:

This Third Model was manufactured in 1854 and has a brass cone front sight, "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-" on top of the barrel, "2" on the left side of the barrel lug near the bottom, the standard cylinder scene, small "COLTS/PATENT" marking, "L" and "G" on the left side of the trigger guard, and matching serial numbers on the loading lever, barrel, wedge, arbor pin, cylinder, frame, trigger guard, back strap, and back strap mortise of the grip (properly hand-written).

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with 20% original blue finish on the barrel mixed with dark brown patina, 25% original silver plating on the grip straps, aged patinas on the silver and exposed brass, mostly gray and brown patina on the balance, some minor pitting, and generally mild wear. The grip is fine aside from some minor nicks at the lower edges and has glossy original varnish and minor handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
