Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1856 as a percussion revolver and was then factory converted to cartridge in the 1870s. The cartridge conversion Navy revolvers continued to be used by the U.S. Navy up until their replacement in the 1890s by the Colt Model 1889 Double Action revolvers. It features a brass cone front sight, "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-" on top of the barrel, "R.W.M. [anchor]." on the bottom of the barrel, "U S N" on the butt, the "PAT. JULY. 25, 1871./PAT. JULY. 2, 1872." markings on the left side of the frame, the standard Texas Navy battle cylinder scene, "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, (added) "1041/60977" on the barrel lug, "8401/1041" on the cylinder, "1041" on the loading gate, and "61041" on the frame and grip straps, and a faint number in the rear grip mortise.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The metal has strong traces of factory refurbished blue finish in some of the protected areas and otherwise mottled gray patina and light pitting. The markings are mostly distinct. The grip has dark oiled finish, mild edge wear, chips at the toe and heel, and minor marks and scratches. Mechanically fine.
