Description:

In 1865 and 1866, 4,000 Colt Model 1851 Navy revolvers were manufactured at Hartford, shipped to and proofed in London, and inspected at Enfield for the Egyptian Army. Some are believed to have gone to other areas aside from Egypt. This revolver was manufactured in 1864 and has standard markings and features for the era as well as London proofmarks, an Enfield cartouche ("R [crown] M" and "Enfield" around an inspector's mark) on the left side of the grip, and an untranslated Egyptian marking on the butt. No serial number is visible on the loading lever or grip, but the other components all have matching numbers.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with 25% original blue on the barrel, patches of original case colors and silver plating, aged patina on the brass, dark brown patina on the balance, some pitting, general marks and scratches, minor chips at the toe, and mostly distinct markings. Mechanically fine. This is one of the few of these scarce revolvers we have had the pleasure of offering at auction.
