Description:

The consignor's notes indicate the "T,10" marking on the front of the barrel lug by the serial number denotes issue to police in Heathcote, Victoria, Australia. Similar markings have been seen on other Victorian Police revolvers. 250 Colt Navies were purchased by the Victorian Police in June 1864 per the Museums Victoria article "Colt Firearms in Colonial Victoria, 1850-1900." The revolver also has London proofs, the "L" marking by the serial number often present on arms destined for Colt's London Agency, and the iron grip frame used on the London Navy revolvers. The other primary markings and features are standard, including all matching serial numbers (grip not numbered).

Rating Definition:

Very good with smooth dark gray patina overall, some minor pitting, remarked loading lever, and mild scratches and marks. The refinished grip is also very good aside from some small chips at the heel and toe and has lightly hand worn oiled finish. Mechanically fine.
