The action was manufactured in 1915. This is one of only 100 Model 1885s Winchester fitted with a .22 Hornet barrel in the 1930s when this cartridge first reached the market. The .22 Hornet medium sporter weight barrel has target block bases, and lacks provision for front and rear sights. The left side of the barrel has the two-line address/patent dates marking with "MADE IN U.S.A." followed by "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL,", "22 HORNET" and an off set Winchester "WP" proof mark. The paneled, round top, coil spring, straight grip action has a single set trigger, a Winchester "WP" proof, and a London proof. An additional London proof is stamped on the breech block. Other features include sling swivel eyelets, Schnabel field style forend with ebony tip and checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine. 95% original blue finish remains on the barrel and 70% original blue finish remains on the action. Patterns of original case colors remain on the lever. The wood is fine with minor-moderate dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. A very nice example of one of only 100 factory barreled High Walls Winchester built in the 1930s when the .22 Hornet was introduced.
