The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with a 1/2 octagon barrel in .38-56 caliber, set trigger, checkered pistol grip stock, 1/2 magazine, sling and swivels (currently only swivels) and cleaning rod in butt when received in the warehouse on March 8, 1890 and shipped the same day. Beaded Lyman blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight, tang peep sight, trapdoor buttplate containing a four piece cleaning rod and deluxe checkered walnut pistol grip stock with ebony grip insert. Left side of lower tang marked "283 XXX". Assembly number "283" repeated on stock inlet and buttplate.

Fine as restored, retaining most of the blue and casehardened finishes showing minimal handling evidence. The wood is fine with minor handling marks, some chipping at the tangs and crisp recut checkering. The barrel is a professionally made modern replacement. Mechanically excellent.
