Description:

These Colt rifle-muskets were produced throughout the Civil War under contract with the Union and state governments and were among the highest quality rifle-muskets of the war. An estimated 100,000 muskets were manufactured by the end of the war. Many were also sold privately through Schuyler, Hartley & Graham. This "1862" (barrel) and "1863" (lock) dated example has the standard markings and features and has "N.J" markings on the left barrel and stock flats.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mostly bright metal displaying some slight pitting and minor staining, and general minor wear. The stock is also very good and has some scrapes and dings, a few minor flakes, a splice at the heel, and dark refreshed oil finish. Mechanically fine.
