Description:

Dovetail blade front and folding leaf rear sights "L.F.R." on the left flat of the barrel. Standard markings on the left side of the frame, "MANUFACTURED BY/AM'N M'CH'N. WKS/SPRINGFIELD MASS", agents' names "ADDRESS/POULTNEY & TRIMBLE/BALTIMORE U.S.A." and "SMITH'S PATENT/JUNE 23, 1857" by the saddle ring bar. Straight wrist stock with a "JH" oval script cartouche on the left side and a steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 50% of the faded original blue finish mixed with brown patina and showing scattered minor pitting overall. 30% original case colors remain, concentrated around the hammer and bolster. Wood is very fine, with a few deep dents on the wrist and underside, scattered minor pressure dents and handling marks, and a clear cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
