Description:

The Model 1861 was the main weapon of the Union Army during the Civil War. This very fine U.S. Springfield Armory made example is dated "1862" both on the lock and barrel and a crisp cartouche on the left stock flat.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, showing mostly bright finish with a scattered light speckling of brown patina. The wood is also very fine with minor handling marks scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent. This example would nicely fill the slot in your Civil War collection!
