Description:

Manufactured circa 1865 with standard markings and features including two boxed government cartouches ("M.N.M." and ?) and inspection marks. E.P.R. on saddle ring and barrel. "A.W.M." on bottom of forearm, "N.S.P. on top of rear buttstock. "Sharps rifle Manufg. Co. Hartford Conn." stamped barrel address.

Rating Definition:

Very good with strong traces of original blue finish, and case colors, mostly in the protected areas, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, some minor spotting, and general mild wear. The wood is also fine and has distinct cartouches, mild scrapes and dings, and a few slight flakes. Mechanically fine.
