Description:

This unusual European rolling block volley rifle has a 7-round barrel cluster housed in a single iron sleeve which is 1 inch across. The matted solid rib has a dovetail blade front sight and a two leaf rear sight and is signed "H. PIEPER BTE LIEGE." The rolling block action has a 7 round removable breech face/ejector. The sides of the action have repeating banding that also appears on the upper tang. The left side of the action is stamped with a proof over "ELN/5." The forearm and round knob pistol grip stock are nicely figured walnut and feature multi-point checkering. The buttstock is fitted with a steel shotgun style buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. Traces of original blue finish remain on the barrel sleeve with heavier amounts of blue under the forearm, otherwise the rifle has a mixture of mottled brown and gray patinas. The refinished wood is fine with a short hairline stress crack at the upper tang and some blemishes in the overall crisp recut checkering. Mechanically excellent.
