The accompanying factory letter lists this SAA flattop target revolver with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .45/c (Long Colt) caliber (likely a factory recording error as it is chambered in .450 Eley), blue finish and hard rubber stocks when shipped to Colt's London Agency on April 18, 1890, as part of a 24 gun shipment. The barrel has the one-line Pall Mall London address on top and "450 ELEY" on the left side. Only 84 SAA flattop target revolver were manufactured in .450 Eley. The revolver has the distinctive black powder flattop target frame featuring a stock mounting screw, a blade front sight, a "V" notched rear sight, an oval ejector rod head and added lanyard eyelet on the butt. The left side of the frame has the three-line patent dates marking. British proofs are present on the underside of the barrel and on each cylinder flute. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Includes a reproduction skeletonized shoulder stock.

Very good, retaining 30% plus original blue finish mixed with some cold blue on the barrel and a smooth brown-gray patina on the balance. The sights have been altered during the period of use to accommodate the preferences of a marksman's individual needs, the butt and forward trigger guard screw hole have been enlarged, and the stock is ill-fitting. The grips are very fine with some minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
