Description:

Manufactured from 1874 to 1878 with this example having a 20th century engraving and gold plating. The engraving consists of profuse floral scrollwork on a punch dot background. The scrollwork surrounds an engraved eagle on the side plate. The engraving has a spurious "LDN" signature near the eagle. Matching assembly numbers are on the grip frame, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch. The right grip panel is numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally embellished, retaining 97% plus of the gold plating showing scattered high edge wear. 60% of the case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are excellent with limited handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
