These mid-19th century pistols feature multi-color gold inlays accenting and fine floral and inhabited and interlaced scroll engraving with bestial heads, a detailed high relief gold buck scene on the tail of the lock of "A," and a coordinating high relief gold doe scene on the tail of the lock of "B." The inlays are a mix of materials, including gold and silver. The barrels are inlaid with "C. DÖHLING IN WÜRZBURG" in gold on top, and "J.J.B." is marked on the lower left side of the breech plugs. "garwood" is hand-inscribed on the bottom of the barrel key mounts. The pistols are numbered "1" and "2" respectively on multiple components including in gold on the upper tangs. The pistols feature seven-groove rifled barrels, dovetailed blade front sights, key adjustable notch rear sights on the upper tangs, adjustable single set triggers, spurred trigger guards, and well-figured stocks with fine multi-point checkering on the wrists. The upper and lower straps extend from the breech and forend tip respectively all the way to the flared pommel caps.

Very fine with distinct Damascus twist patterns along the barrel, varied aged patinas on the inlays, areas of vibrant original case colors (such as the pommel cap), some light gray and brown patina, mild wear at the muzzle, and minor marks and scratches. The stock is also very fine and has attractive figure, crisp checkering, varnish finish, a faint hairline crack at the rear lock screw, and scattered light scratches and pressure marks. The breech plug and front sight are loosely fit and can be removed by hand. Mechanically excellent.
